end of hiatus
when i got the e-mail from stereocean last week, inviting me to open their show at charisma in salisbury, i hadn't unpacked my gear from the last show, a month or two earlier--hadn't touched a guitar in weeks. the benthic jones alter-ego was on sabbatical. but the invite got me to get my act together, and the show was real fun. i think the break was good, too, though, because the songs sounded fresh to me again. i don't know if anyone else enjoyed my set, but i did. hopefully the energy from that will lead to more musical happenings.
and speaking of momentum, people have to start checking out stereocean. (www.stereocean.com) they are sounding better and better all the time. three-piece line-up with the staight-ahead catchiness of spoon, but more blonde-redheaded dissonance, and slightly raspy vocals that give a sort of urgency. every time i see them they've got new songs, and they all seem better than the last. go check them out!
