the spring arts festival with stereocean at the art institute and gallery was so much fun that it is being reprised in a bigger n' better summer version, offering more readings, films, visual arts, and of course, noisy fools like me. the ai&g building lives in downtown salisbury at 212 w. main st. stereocean lives somewhere nearby and will rock you: www.stereocean.com

06.23.05. charisma. salisbury, md.
sr. benthic is coming out of semi-retirement thursday evening to open for old friends stereocean in their home (which is apparently my second home): salisbury. i will be rusty, but stereocean will rock. charisma is located at 1015 eastern shore drive.

04.17.05. the salisbury spring arts festival. salisbury, md.
i don't know many details about this event yet, but i do know it will involve arts of all sorts--music, sculpture, poetry readings, etc. i also know that stereocean will be playing, and they rock. the venue will be ai&g at 212 w. main street. i'll post more details as i get them, but in the meantime click on the salisbury steak to the left to find out that this amazing food is not named after the town on the eastern shore of maryland where the spring arts festival will occur.

finally a hometown show after several out-o-town dates. it will be good to be back at the mojo--fast becoming mr. benthic's favorite host. the mojo resides at 4825 belair road. click on their logo for directions and info.

03.05.05. the quiet storm. pittsburgh, pa.
march will be time for benthic jones to make a triumphant return to the steel city of pittsburgh to play again at the quiet storm. it's a great little coffee house and music venue located at 5430 Penn Avenue.

2.18.05. the backwards city review launch party. greensboro, nc.
the backwards city review is a hep new literary journal full of short stories, essays, poems, comics, et cetera. it recently went to press with it's first issue, and the brains behind the operation are hosting a throw-down to celebrate. they have been so kind as to invite benthic jones to provide some musical accompaniment to the rabble-rousing. it probably won't be the most public of events, but if you're in the area and want to check it out, drop me a line and i'm sure i can pull a few people in. more importantly, click on the feisty man to the left to check out the journal--read some great stuff or even submit your own.

12.9.04. the mojo sidestage at cardwell's. baltimore, md.
following a couple fun gigs at the mojo, benthic jones heads to the club's new venue in canton at cardwell's. it's their thursday songwriter showcase. cardwell's is at 2239 essex street, just a couple blocks from the southwest corner of patterson park. for a map, click on the blurry freeway at left.

9.25.04. the mojo room & lounge. baltimore, md.
after a long break to travel for his other career as a bookish nerd...er, mysterious spy... mr. benthic returns to the stage at the mojo to open a show for veterans of the baltimore music scene, when thunder comes. should be a great night. show is at 9PM, and the cover is TBA (it was $5 last time). find the mojo at 4825 belair road, or click on their logo for directions and info.

4.21.04. the mojo room & lounge. baltimore, md.
in times of crisis, the good bands of energy castle rally together to set things right with nights of great music. on this night stereocean, low-beam, and benthic jones will get together in the charm city of baltimore for the first time. local heroes, slowloader, will also add their great sound to the mix. the mojo is located at 4825 belair road. click on their logo to the left for a map and directions and pretty pictures of the great space.

11.15.03. island way bar & grill. salisbury, md.
the good souls from stereocean, who shared the stage with benthic jones in pittsburgh and chicago, have invited him to maryland's scenic eastern shore for a benefit show for mercy.org. the cost is just $5 for 5 great bands. the island way bar & grill is located at 2625 n. salisbury blvd., also known as route 13. you'll get good music and good karma if you make it out. the former will be aided by the presence of low-beam (ct), stereocean (md), all the dead pilots (md), and pash (va). plus, salisbury is close to ocean city, so come enjoy a november day at the beach and play mini-golf before heading to the show.

10.17-18.03. energy castle showcase. chicago, il.
the good folks at energy castle are staging two big days of musics from the bands featured on their super-fabulous compilations. benthic jones is one of the fortunate so-featured musicians who will be so fortunate as to be featured again at the on stage event. the venue is the chicago avenue social club at 1538 w. chicago avenue. the price is absolutely nothing, meaning free.

10.15.03. the quiet storm. pittsburgh, pa.
en route to the energy castle showcase (see below), benthic jones will make a stop in the steel city of pittsburgh to play at the quiet storm, which is located at 5430 Penn Avenue. he will be joining fellow migrating energy castle bands, no star and low beam, plus the local heroes in pittsburgh, monarch. tickets are 5 u.s. dollars at the door, and you may b.y.o.b.

9.26.03. hamilton st. cafe & stage. bound brook, nj.
on this date another attempt will be made to play musics at 22 hamilton street in the town of bound brook, in the garden state of new jersey. tix are $5 from benthic jones, but a whopping $10 from the venue, so you can see who loves you best. be sure to get in touch to get the cheap tix. the ruined, anytime in july, unknown candidate, and other bands to be named later will also play musics.

9.12.03. mima's. baltimore, md.
east 32nd street, between charles and st. paul streets in the neighborhood of charles village. between 10pm and midnight benthic jones will pester the hometown kids with two sets full of musics. while they listen, they can also purchase coffee beverages or b.t.o.b. (you see, in this grammatical construction, you need a 't' for 'their,' instead of a 'y' for 'your.') all this for just 4 u.s. dollars at the door, plus the cost of your beverage of choice, which can be nothing if you're not thirsty.

22 hamilton street in the town of bound brook, in the garden state of new jersey. tix are $5 from benthic jones, but $10 at the door, so be sure to get in touch to acquire them. sol harvest and other bands to be named later will also play musics. sachin trivedi will have nice hair if he lets anyone see it. joe grat will shout about someone named billy; no one is sure who that is.
